Renovation and Remodeling in Richmond Hill

We renovate kitchens, bathrooms, basements and whole homes, including finished basements with a separate entrance.

Our team designs the new space, handles the permits and does the work for homeowners in Richmond Hill, Vaughan, Markham, Newmarket and nearby York Region communities.

Kitchens and bathrooms

Kitchens and bathrooms are where a renovation shows the most, and where planning matters the most. We look at the layout first: where the sink, range and fridge sit, how much counter space and storage you need, and whether a wall should come out. Cabinetry, counters, tile, fixtures and lighting are then chosen together, so the room looks designed rather than assembled. At 556 Bondi Ave in Newmarket we renovated a townhouse kitchen around a new peninsula, and at 41 Spring Home in Barrie the new kitchen and breakfast bar open onto the living and dining areas.

Basements and separate entrances

A finished basement can add a family room, a home gym, a guest suite or a separate living space for relatives or a tenant. We frame, insulate, wire and finish the space, and add bathrooms, kitchenettes and laundry where the plan calls for them. A separate entrance means cutting through the foundation, building a new stairwell and making sure the space meets the Ontario Building Code, including fire separation, exits and ceiling heights when it becomes a second unit. At 293 Betty Ann in North York, we delivered a fully finished basement with its own separate entrance.

Older homes and restorations

Many older homes in Richmond Hill and the surrounding towns have character worth keeping. In a historical restoration we repair or recreate original details, such as trim, doors and stair parts, while updating the wiring, plumbing, insulation and layout behind them. If a property is listed or designated as a heritage property, exterior changes may need heritage approval from the municipality, and we include that in the plan. We also refurbish commercial spaces, from small updates to full fit-outs.

Questions About Renovation and Remodeling

What homeowners and businesses in Richmond Hill ask us about renovation and remodeling.

Still have a question?

  • Yes. A separate basement entrance involves excavating beside the house, cutting an opening in the foundation, building the stairwell and its drainage, and finishing the inside to meet the Ontario Building Code. It needs a building permit, which we prepare and apply for. Our 293 Betty Ann project is an example of a fully finished basement with its own entrance.

  • Often, yes. In Richmond Hill and most Ontario municipalities, adding walls, a bathroom, new plumbing, a separate entrance or a second unit usually requires a building permit. Cosmetic work, like painting or replacing flooring, usually does not. We check what your project needs, prepare the drawings and apply for the permit, so the finished basement is documented and inspected.

  • For most kitchen, bathroom and basement renovations, yes. We set up dust protection, keep a clear path through the house and plan the work so you lose the use of a room for as little time as possible. For whole-home renovations, some families prefer to move out for part of the project, and we'll help you decide based on the scope.

  • It depends on the size of the space, the condition of what's behind the walls, any structural or layout changes, and the finishes you choose. A bathroom update and a full basement with a separate entrance are very different projects. After a site visit and an agreed scope, we give you a detailed price, so you can compare options before you decide.
