Excavation Services
Site preparation is the first stage of every home and addition we build: clearing the land, stripping and saving topsoil, grading, and digging for the foundation.
We do this work as part of our own construction projects in Richmond Hill and across York Region, so the site is ready for the build that follows.
Site preparation is how our own projects begin: a custom home, an addition, a deck or patio, or a basement walkout. Doing it ourselves means the excavation is laid out from our own drawings, the depths and grades match the foundation design, and the team that digs is the team that builds. There's no handover between contractors, and no question about who is responsible for the site, the schedule or the neighbours.
Before any equipment arrives, we arrange utility locates, set up construction fencing and protect the trees and neighbouring properties that are staying. Topsoil is stripped and stockpiled so it can be reused for final grading and landscaping. The building area is then excavated and levelled to the depths in the drawings, and trenches are dug for footings, drains and service connections. In many municipalities, removing certain trees needs a permit, so we check that before any clearing starts.
No two lots are the same. These are the things that decide how much site work a project needs:

Our site preparation is done as part of the projects we design and build: custom homes, additions, outdoor living spaces and renovations that involve digging, such as a basement walkout. If you're planning one of these in Richmond Hill or a nearby city, the site work is part of our scope, so one team is responsible from the first dig to the finished project.
We strip the topsoil from the building area and stockpile it on site, away from the excavation, so it doesn't get mixed with the subsoil underneath. Once construction is finished, it can be spread back for final grading, lawns and planting. Any excess soil that can't be reused on the property is hauled away.
Often, yes, but first we check whether the municipality's tree rules apply. Richmond Hill and many neighbouring municipalities require a permit to remove certain trees on private property, and trees close to the work may need protective fencing. We plan the layout to keep healthy trees where we can and include any required applications in the permit process.
Before digging starts, we arrange utility locates, put up construction fencing and silt fencing, and protect trees near the property line. We keep excavations fenced off, control water on site so it doesn't run onto neighbouring lots, and keep the street and sidewalk clear of mud. Good site protection keeps the project safe and the neighbours on side.
